Naturally, we had to talk about the best movies of 2022 as well. Keep in mind that we haven’t watched all of the movies that came out this year. In fact, these movies may not even have the highest ratings on sites like IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes. The list is entirely subjective and consists of the films from 2022 that meant the most to us.
Like the previous list, we compiled this one by asking each member of our team about their favorite movies of 2022. Additionally, each individual has watched and loved different movies from various genres and industries. That is why our best movies of 2022 aren’t limited to a specific type or part of the world. Without further delay, let’s celebrate 2022 by looking back at the films that we fell in love with!
Talal Ahmed, Business Development Manager: The Legend of Maula Jatt
Actually, The Legend of Maula Jatt disproves all of Lollywood’s usual justifications for poor quality films. These excuses include saying that we are a developing industry that doesn’t have enough finances.
The Legend of Maula Jatt starts our list of the best movies of 2022 because of how grand it is. In fact, it feels like a love letter to old Pakistani cinema and a modern-day epic simultaneously.
It intentionally presents the iconic cult classic story in an over-the-top, loud, and explosive manner. Somehow, it still manages to be a personal, character-focused saga.
Moreover, its cinematography, production design, and action sequences are unlike anything Lollywood has ever offered before.
The performances can be a bit shaky at times, mainly due to the cast’s Punjabi accents.
But The Legend of Maula Jatt has set a unique bar for any future Pakistani films.
This one lived up to the hype; this one was worth the long wait!
Osama Farooq, Content Writer’s Addition to the Best Movies of 2022: Kamli
Kamli is easily one of the best Pakistani movies ever made, as well as one of the best movies of 2022. As a matter of fact, it is an immersive experience that has masterful direction, beautiful cinematography, and a great soundtrack. The performances all around are naturally believable and completely stellar.
Kamli is a work of art and a film that Pakistani cinema desperately needed. In all honesty, every shot of the movie felt like watching detailed artwork painted on canvases. The long, uncut, breathtaking scenes paired with the crisp and mind-blowing sound design are hypnotic, to say the least.
Kamli is a character-driven drama that is basically the Saba Qamar show, as she delivers her best performance yet. And the unconventional director Sarmad Khoosat has once again focused only on his craft and struck gold with Kamli.
Furqan Ali, Graphic Designer: Top Gun: Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick is an exciting blast of a classic summer blockbuster and one of the best movies of 2022. It’s a thrilling ride that will definitely please both the fans of the first film and the general audience. Actually, Director Joseph Kosinski ensures that the nostalgia from the 1980s is still present throughout. There is very little logic and reason here, but the conventional testosterone-filled heroism makes up for it.
The new cast is exceptional, the flying sequences and choreography are amazing, and the adrenaline rush is truly real. In fact, Top Gun: Maverick knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything more.
It knows that it doesn’t need to be thought-provoking or deep, and it owns that masterfully. The action sequences are crazy enough for people to be more than satisfied with Top Gun: Maverick.
Furthermore, it is extremely cheesy and silly, but its enthusiastic nature is a nostalgic throwback to simpler cinema. Maverick returns in a sequel that perfectly lives up to the first movie by delivering glorious action. The spirit of the 80s lives on as Top Gun: Maverick sticks to the neon-cheesy formula that just works. Moreover, it confidently builds upon the hilarious but fun soap opera drama of the original without wasting any time.
It never gives huge fans of Top Gun any reason to be discontent with what the sequel has to offer.
Nearly four decades after the original’s release, Top Gun: Maverick defies all expectations and does its predecessor complete justice.
Hina Khalid’s Pick for the Best Movies of 2022: Minions: The Rise of Gru
Indeed, Minions: The Rise of Gru is the ultimate Minion compilation for fans of the franchise. It is equally a Gru prequel that digs deep into his past.
It incorporates the iconic Minion slapstick comedy in fun ideas and comedic setups.
Of course, it is still a film aimed at young children, so the comedy is a little over the top.
But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be enjoyed by adults because of its dramatic themes and pop culture references. The Minions make a comeback in this entertaining sequel spinoff to the Despicable Me franchise.
After one of the best movies of 2022, it’s safe to say that the Minions aren’t going away anytime soon.

Additionally, there were some more picks from the rest of Team Sound Crush for the best movies of 2022. Our third Graphic Designer, Hassan Khan Durrani, loved the Indian action thriller sequel Khuda Haafiz: Chapter 2 – Agni Pariksha.
We then asked our Digital Marketing Executive, Shehzad Fazal, about his favorite film of the year.
As a result, he chose the grounded action-adventure DC film The Batman.
Finally, our Web Developer, Muhammad Usman, was blown away by the Indian period action film K.G.F: Chapter 2. That completes our list of the best movies of 2022.
